Abstract: Criticism is recognized as an important intellectual instrument to engage with any subject of human knowledge since it adds to the study and evaluation of human thought, which needs a diversity of strategies and methodologies. Throughout its history, criticism has been impacted by continual inquiry and interaction with what humans has accomplished in the humanities, such as language, philosophy, history, psychology, and sociology, as well as other fields of experimental sciences. As a result of this link, criticism was able to approach and evaluate creative works with greater objectivity and accuracy. The experience of George Tarabishi, who viewed criticism as a philosophical endeavor that goes beyond literary interpretation to challenge the ontological and intellectual frameworks that underlie texts, arises within this framework. Three levels were used by him to link critical reading to philosophy: an ontological level concerning identity, reason, and Arab existence; an epistemological level concerning the boundaries and potential of knowledge; and a methodological level based on the application of various Western philosophical techniques like psychoanalysis, phenomenology, and Hegelian dialectics. In order to free Arab thought from stagnation and situate it within a more comprehensive logical and critical vision, Tarabishi personified a critical reading style that was receptive to philosophy.
