Mustapha Guerroudj .

Cyber extortion targeting children is among the most serious contemporary cybercrimes, as it constitutes a direct assault on a child's privacy, dignity, and psychological and social well-being, particularly given the increasing use of modern technologies and social media networks. This development has given rise to new criminal patterns that facilitate the exploitation of minors by perpetrators, who take advantage of their limited awareness and the difficulty of monitoring the online sphere. This has transformed cyber extortion into a tool of pressure and coercion used to achieve illicit financial or sexual gains. This study sheds light on the legal framework governing cyber extortion in Palestinian legislation, specifically Law No. (10) of 2018 concerning cybercrimes and its amendments. It also draws upon relevant provisions in the Palestinian Child Law and the Jordanian Penal Code applicable in Palestine. The study analyzes the concept of the crime, outlining the characteristics that distinguish it from traditional crimes, its material and moral elements, and its various types based on the methods used and the criminal motives. Furthermore, the study examines the methods of investigation and proof in this crime, as well as the practical challenges involved. The work is within the framework of a comparative study with Algerian legislation.
