Socio-cultural Challenges Faced By Families Due To Excessive Use Of Social Media Sites

Abstract

This study addresses the most prominent socio-cultural challenges facing families in light of modern media technologies resulting from their widespread and irrational use of social media. It aims to uncover the most significant social and cultural challenges facing families resulting from their excessive use of various websites. It concluded that the most important of these challenges are addiction, isolation, weak relationships within the family, media penetration, cultural and value penetration, in addition to the loss of real identity and its replacement with a digital identity in a complex virtual world. To confront these challenges, efforts must be combined between various societal institutions in order to establish preventive awareness programs about the dangers of excessive use of these websites. تتناول هذه الدراسة أبرز التحديات السوسيوثقافية التي تواجه الأسرة في ظل تكنولوجيات الإعلام الحديثة نتيجة استخدامها مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي بشكل واسع وغير عقلاني، وتهدف إلى الكشف عن أهم التحديات الاجتماعية والثقافية التي تقف أمام الأسرة نتيجة استخدامها لمواقع الالكترونية المختلفة بشكل مفرط. وتوصلت إلى أن أهم هذه التحديات تتمثل في الإدمان، العزلة، ضعف العلاقات داخل الأسرة، الاختراق الإعلامي، والاختراق الثقافي والقيمي، بالإضافة إلى ضياع الهوية الحقيقية واستبدالها بهوية رقمية في عالم افتراضي معقد. ولمواجهة هذه التحديات، ينبغي تكاتف الجهود بين مختلف المؤسسات المجتمعية وعلى رأسها الأسرة انطلاقا من أن المسؤولية مشتركة بين الجميع، وذلك بإرساء برامج وقائية توعوية عن مخاطر الاستخدام المفرط لهذه المواقع الالكترونية.
