Abstract

Abstract: The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between locus of control (internal/external) and psychological resilience among third-year clinical psychology students. To achieve this objective, a descriptive research method was employed through the administration of the Locus of Control Questionnaire and the Psychological Resilience Scale developed by Julian Rotter (1954) and translated into Arabic by Alaa El-Din Kafafi (1982). This instrument comprises a set of items designed to determine whether individuals attribute the outcomes of their actions to internal factors, such as effort and ability, or to external factors, such as luck or situational conditions. The scale was administered to a randomly selected sample of 50 students from the Department of Clinical Psychology. After statistical analysis, the following results were obtained: • There is a relationship between locus of control (internal/external) and psychological resilience among third-year Clinical Psychology students. • There is a relationship between locus of control (internal/external) and the dimension of development and growth among third-year Clinical Psychology students. • There is a relationship between locus of control (internal/external) and self-efficacy among third-year Clinical Psychology students. • There is a relationship between locus of control (internal/external) and optimism among third-year Clinical Psychology students.
