The Industry Of 'trends' Via Digital Platforms: A Study On Agenda-setting Strategies And The Formation Of Mental Images Among The Algerian Audience

Authors : Ouahabi Naziha .

Abstract

This research examines the "Trend" phenomenon as a transformative force in the Algerian communicative agenda, deconstructing the shift from traditional gatekeeping to algorithmic determinism. Using a descriptive-analytical method, the study investigates the interplay between human influencers and machine learning in manufacturing digital virality. The results reveal that the "Trend" has become a primary architect of social reality, serving as both a tool for popular accountability and a mechanism for strategic distraction. Findings show that "Trendjacking" has eroded journalistic ethics, necessitating critical digital literacy to navigate the algorithmic dictatorship and ensure national communicative sovereignty.
