The social history of nations is considered one among the most prominent fields of knowledge that must be thoroughly examined, due to its great significance in understanding the course of societies and in anticipating their future based on rigorous academic studies. Modern historical studies have expanded beyond the confines of political and military history toward the broader scope of social history, encompassing all its components from the structure and development of the family to the lived reality of the public, and extending to the multifaceted cultural and social heritage. This encompasses a set of customs and traditions carried down through generations. This study seeks to shed light on certain aspects of this social history by focusing on the customs and traditions associated with religious occasions in Algeria, during a particularly sensitive period of its history, namely the era of French occupation from 1830 to 1962.
