The word of (Ṭirād) commonly is being used among the contemporary writers and journalists to describe something as (moddtared) in the sense of “consistent”, uniform and continuous in a single pattern. This usage seems difficult in pronunciation and contrary to morphological rules, but it is in fact an old usage that appears in some linguistic sources and usage examples. This had led some contemporary linguists to approve it, citing texts from some dictionaries, as well as linguistic examples, some from the pre-Islamic era and some from the noble Prophetic tradition, in addition to referring to some uses by scholars. This research discusses these citations in detail, in an attempt to clarify the confusion and restore the matter to its proper place according to the rules of the Arabic language.
