Abstract

This study examines technological innovation within start-ups and highlights its importance as a strategic choice, given its role as a foundational pillar for achieving growth, sustainability, and strategic adaptability. This importance is evident in the contemporary economic environment, which is marked by rapid and continuous changes and intense competitiveness. Within the Algerian context—characterized by limited access to formal financing and regulatory constraints—technological innovation emerges as a principal strategic tool for differentiation and long-term survival. To achieve the study’s objectives, a descriptive–analytical approach was adopted. The analysis focused on the start- up Double Power Machinery, a nationally recognized award-winning firm in technological innovation. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview with the company’s founder, complemented by an analysis of internal documents, including innovation awards and patents. The collected data were subsequently subjected to thematic analysis following the procedures outlined by Braun and Clarke. The findings reveal that the adoption of modern technologies—illustrated by the development of the mobile medical waste incinerator “COVID-19” and the INC-Pyrolyse system—significantly enhances the capacity of start-ups to improve their products and develop innovative, environmentally friendly solutions. Moreover, technological innovation strengthens their ability to adapt to market dynamics and pursue international market expansion.
