This study investigates the effectiveness of the current English for Specific Purposes (ESP) course offered to third-year students in the department of English at Mouloud Mammeri University of Tizi-Ouzou (MMUTO) and examines how constructivist learning principles can enhance its course design. Drawing on Vygotsky’s (1978) social constructivism, the research explores two questions: whether the course aligns with students’ academic and future professional needs, and how constructivist learning principles can be applied to improve ESP instruction.
