Models Of Analysis Representing The Social Actor From The Perspective Of Discourse Analysis

This study answers an important question: How can the social actor in discourse be analyzed? To answer this, the study began by reading the historical context for the emergence of the school of critical discourse analysis, as well as cognitive analysis. Through this, it became clear that philosophy sees discourse as a perspective of a person or society, and that this philosophical view was adopted by the linguistic analysis schools, and made of discourse a social practice that reveals the relationship of language to power (as in the critical discourse analysis), or perceptual structures related to the perspective of the person himself (as in in the school of cognitive analysis). Then the study dealt with a set of analytical models for the social actor as the most important elements of discourse. I studied the ideological square of Van Dyck, the discursive strategies in the representation of social actors, by Lodak and Risegl, the strategies of social representation by Van Leeuwen, the cognitive schematics by Lakoff, the model of the experiences of actors by Halliday and Matisen, and finally: the model of "analyzing the cognitive perspective in the discourse towards the actors" by Al-Ghaili. The research also dealt with a group of studies that used these analytical models, and its most important findings.
