Celebrations of religious holidays and occasions in Algeria, as documented in the Al-Basair newspaper (1936-1948). Summary: Celebrations of religious holidays and events in Algeria since the following eras formed one of the most prominent manifestations of belonging and pride to the nation of Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and these celebrations were given an official character, whether within religious institutions or by the existing authority, old or modern, and this is manifested through ancient customs that have a temporal and spatial dimension and remained firmly resistant to all attempts to obliterate, distort and falsify sometimes and ridicule and fight many of these celebrations in our country, especially what we live today Celebrations of religious holidays and events vary in Algeria, perhaps the most prominent of which are the religious holidays represented by the two holidays ( Fitr, sacrifice), the revival of the last nights of Ramadan, especially the night of the twenty-seventh of it, which is known as the night of fate, and celebrating the return of pilgrims from the holy places and others . Algerians have retained their custom of celebrating various religious occasions and holidays through various eras despite all the challenges and difficulties they faced, especially the colonial era, where the French colonizer tried to erase all the features of Algerian identity by fighting the Islamic religion and all its manifestations and imposing strict censorship on various religious institutions, so we will try in this intervention to focus on this topic by referring to some Algerian sources and references during the colonial period, which highlights the celebrations of religious holidays and occasions in Algeria, and we chose the reformist "Al-Basa'ir newspaper for the Association of Algerian Muslim scholars to take an idea of the festive editions The various holidays across the country and the extent to which Algerians continue to do so.
