This study analyses the ambivalence of the verb “msha” in Tunisian Arabic dialect. Through its everyday uses, this lexeme develops strong polysemy and functions as a discourse marker whose meaning depends on the enunciative context, prosody, and social interactions. The various uses of the word reveal a linguistic flexibility characteristic of Tunisian orality. Consequently, the observed ambiguity appears as a strategy of discursive economy and expressivity.
