Abstract : This paper seeks to elucidate the critical role of a healthy family environment and constructive parental practices in attenuating trauma-related symptoms among children who have experienced sexual abuse. Sexual abuse in childhood constitutes one of the most severe forms of violence, given its profound and enduring psychological repercussions, which may manifest as trauma symptoms, post‑traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and disturbances in sleep and attachment. Within this framework, parental acceptance emerges as a central protective factor in the child’s recovery trajectory. The provision of emotional safety, psychological containment, and unconditional affection enables the child to navigate feelings of fear, guilt, and stigma, while fostering a renewed sense of trust in self and others. Empirical evidence consistently demonstrates that children who receive supportive and accepting responses from their parents exhibit greater adaptive functioning and reduced trauma symptomatology compared to those who do not. Consequently, the family—particularly parental figures—constitutes a pivotal component in the psychological care of child victims, underscoring the necessity of integrating parents into therapeutic and psychoeducational interventions tailored to this population. Accordingly, this paper addresses several core dimensions, beginning with the research problem and objectives, followed by a theoretical overview of trauma symptoms among sexually abused children. It further delineates the conceptualization and typologies of child sexual abuse, and examines the significance of parental acceptance as a parenting approach that facilitates recovery and mitigates the progression of trauma symptoms into full‑blown PTSD. The paper also highlights the imperative of involving families in psychological support programs for child victims, particularly in light of extensive research indicating that fear of parental rejection, anticipated blame, or feelings of shame constitute major barriers to disclosure among abused children.
