Abstract

Our study aimed to reveal the relationship between occupational stress and psychological alienation among physical education and sports teachers in middle school. We relied on a descriptive approach (correlational method) appropriate to the nature of this study. The study sample included 90 teachers randomly selected from a population of 170 physical education and sports teachers in middle schools in the province of Chlef. As for the study tools, we used two tools: the occupational stress scale, which includes 36 statements distributed across six dimensions, and we used three dimensions, namely (reasons related to working with students at school, reasons related to the relationship between the teacher and the school administration, and reasons related to the relationship with other teachers). The psychological alienation scale consists of 70 statements distributed across seven dimensions, of which we used three: - Loss of meaning - Lack of sense of value - Loss of a sense of belonging. After analyzing and discussing the results, we arrived at the following key findings: There is a statistically significant relationship between reasons related to working with students at school and loss of meaning. There is a statistically significant relationship between reasons related to the relationship between the teacher and the school administration and lack of a sense of value.
