Aperçu Historique Et Architectural Sur Les Bibliotheques Publiques Dans Les Cites Antiques Romaines Au Maghreb.

Résumé

In the Roman period, libraries occupied a prominent position in the development of social and cultural life. Nevertheless, drawing further conclusions remains difficult due to the scarcity of textual and archaeological evidence concerning their internal organization and furnishings—a situation that continues to generate considerable ambiguity regarding these institutions. This is evident in contemporary scholarship, the majority of which adopts a predominantly historical rather than architectural approach. The present study first aims to provide a critical overview of ancient Roman libraries, with particular emphasis on: (i) their development over the centuries; (ii) their urban location within the city, both in Rome and in the provinces; and (iii) their various architectural and spatial characteristics. It then seeks to identify the ways in which the library of Timgad conforms to or diverges from Roman libraries in general. Thus, the ancient Roman library of Timgad, which constitutes the subject of this research, reveals how—and to what extent—Roman public architecture adapted to a geographical context different from that of Rome and its European provinces. خلال الفترة الرومانية، احتلت المكتبات مكانة بارزة في تطور الحياة الاجتماعية والثقافية، ومع ذلك لا يزال من الصعب استنتاج المزيد من المعلومات حول التنظيم الداخلي والأثاث داخل هذه المباني بسبب الشهادات النصية والأثرية النادرة؛ الوضع الذي لا يزال يترك غموضًا تامًا بشأنهم. هذا واضح من خلال تعدد الدراسات المعاصرة على المجال التاريخي بصفة كبيرة مقارنة مع المجال المعماري. تهدف هذه الدراسة، أولاً وقبل كل شيء، إلى تسليط الضوء على دراسة المكتبات الرومانية القديمة، مع التركيز بشكل خاص على: 1) تطورها على مر القرون، 2) مواقعها الحضرية داخل المدينة، في روما وكذلك في المقاطعات، وأخيراً 3) خصائصها المعمارية والفضائية المختلفة. بعد ذلك ، سنتطرق إلى الإجابة عن السؤال المرتبط بتحديد مدى تشابه مكتبة تيمقاد أو اختلافها عن المكتبات الرومانية بشكل عام. وفي الأخير، فإن مكتبة تيمقاد الرومانية القديمة ، موضوع دراسة البحث الحالي ، ستكشف كيف وإلى أي درجة تتكيف العمارة الرومانية العامة مع سياق جغرافي مختلف عن روما ومقاطعاتها الأوروبية.
