Analysis As A Philosophical Method (an Epistemological Approach)

Authors : Benazouaou Amar .

Abstract

The modern era witnessed the rise of science due to the scientific method established by thinkers such as Francis Bacon, John Stuart Mill, and others. This method had enabled scientists to achieve what philosophers had failed to accomplish. It is systematically unified and decisive, with no doubt or uncertainty. This situation compelled philosophers to reflect on what could lift philosophy out of its obscurity and sterile dialectics; thereby, the analytic method was formulated by Anglo-Saxon philosophers. This research seeks to clarify the analytic method and its capacity to shift the course of philosophical thought from the mere use of language in philosophy to making language its central subject. The study aims to provide a precise definition of its concept, history, tools, and sources. However, this method, despite representing a turning point in philosophical methodologies, is marked by epistemological limitations that have subjected it to numerous and severe criticisms.
