Authors : Argoub Djamel .

Abstract

Ethics and morals hold a paramount status with supreme importance in Islam. Indeed, Islamic Law faithfully formulated the foundations of the ethical approach based on a comprehensive collection of Quranic verses and prophetic hadiths handling praiseworthy ethics, alongside specific related singular verses and hadiths. The approach was founded as well on the interrelation of Islamic ethics with doctrinal, devotional, social, and other dimensions, aligning with the objectives of Islamic Law and the prescribed rulings, while also exhibiting a diversity of categories and types. Undoubtedly, there exists an axis, a cornerstone, and a fundamental dimension that Islam aspires to achieve. Preceded by an introduction, the study is structured into two sections: the first deals with the characteristics of the ethical approach in Islam, and the second provides the foundations of the philosophy of ethics within Islamic heritage. The final part presents the conclusion. The research concluded that a character means disposition and nature. It is a deeply rooted state in the soul that compels its owner to adhere to the praises and virtues and to abandon vulgarities and vices. Moreover, ethical norms are the foundations, rules, and values that control the ethical approach according to the Islamic Law. Furthermore, Islam has given special attention to the ethical aspect, presenting a unique and distinct philosophy in this regard. This is tangibly perceived by whoever contemplates the texts about ethics in the Holy Quran and the Sunnah. Eventually, the ethical approach in Islam is closely linked to the aspects of doctrine, worship, social relations, and others, as well as to the objectives of the Islamic Law and the preservation of the Five Necessities. Actually, the ethical element is a prominent feature in all of these aspects, and the ethical approach in Islam has unique characteristics in terms of divinity, comprehensiveness, moderation, steadfastness, easiness, and realism; and upon which the worldly and Hereafter rewards are based.
