Childhood trauma is a well-established risk factor for cognitive and academic difficulties, yet few studies track these outcomes longitudinally. This six-year study followed children with and without trauma exposure across four waves (2019–2025), assessing global cognition, executive functions, and academic achievement. Trauma-exposed children showed lower baseline performance and slower developmental growth. Executive-function trajectories partially mediated the link between early trauma and academic progress, while parental education moderated cognitive growth. These findings demonstrate persistent developmental disparities and identify mechanisms that shape long-term resilience.
