Abstract: The Almoravid experience presented a distinctif coexistence model between the authority of the jurist (faqih) and the politician. This research paper inspects some facets of this coexistence and discord. Indeed, some jurists contributed to the early establishment of this state, participated in its Da'wa’s success (religious and political call), and urged the youth to form an army, with which they extended their control. These jurists also shared political power in decision-making, issuing fatwas (legal opinions), defending the state, and other roles aligned with the ruling power's agenda. However, a group of jurists formed an opposition current to the authority. Consequently, their ideas were seized and their works were burned. Yet, a number of them managed to rally the common people against the ruling power, ultimately leading to the ignition of the embers of rebellion and revolution that subsequently brought down the state itself.
