Abstract This study highlights the role of modern technologies in supporting museum institutions as a practical and secure alternative to the traditional loan of artifacts—particularly in light of the challenges posed by Algerian Law No. 98/04, which imposes strict conditions to protect heritage objects from theft and deterioration during loan processes. The research focuses on the use of digitization to provide innovative solutions that reduce the need for physical loans or the replication of artifacts, which can compromise their integrity and authenticity. An applied model was adopted at the Museum of Miniatures and Calligraphy, where a selection of historical coins preserved at the National Museum of Ancient Art and Islamic Art was digitized. The inscriptions on the coins were analyzed to trace the evolution of Arabic calligraphy and were presented using hologram and augmented reality technologies to recreate the coin-minting process. This approach enhanced visitor engagement with the exhibits and deepened their connection to cultural heritage. The findings confirm that digitization is not merely a tool for display, but a dynamic interface that fosters understanding and enriches the museum experience. It allows museums to safeguard original artifacts while expanding their educational and touristic functions. Moreover, the study shows that integrating such technologies boosts the appeal of exhibitions, draws greater visitor interest, and contributes to sustainable cultural and tourism development—ultimately reducing the need for traditional loans that pose significant risks to historical objects.
