Digitization Of The Ministry Of Trade: An Opportunity To Enhance Efficiency And Limit Informal Trade In Food Supply Chains

Abstract
Algeria’s informal economy has expanded due to political instability, economic and security challenges, structural reforms, and corruption, resulting in the proliferation of parallel supply chains. In response, the Ministry of Trade has undertaken strategic measures, including the establishment of vigilance cells, stricter market monitoring, and the adoption of digital platforms to oversee the distribution of widely consumed food products. This study demonstrated that digitalization contributes to strengthening formal food supply chains by improving transparency, oversight, and efficiency, while reducing the existence of informal supply chains.
