Bridging The Policy Gap: Reinventing Arab Think Tanks Through Participatory Governance

Authors : Dahman Abdulhak . Kreifeur Khalifa .

Abstract

The topic of research and think tanks, particularly the issue of their rationalization, has gained significant attention within the literature of political science, economics, and even social policy. This is based on the fact that the role of these think tanks has become a fundamental pillar in the process of formulating public policies capable of instigating development at various levels, particularly in the Middle East. From this perspective, this study attempts to delve deeper into the reality of research centers in the Arab world and the most significant challenges that hinder their participation in the public policy-making process. It also explores ways to enhance their role and performance. This is achieved by proposing a vision based on employing a governance approach to evaluate the performance of research centers as a participatory vision that enables them to effectively integrate into the decision-making process.
