Abstract: This article examines the role of environmental policies in Algeria in mitigating the effects of climate change by analyzing the legal and institutional frameworks in place and measuring their practical effectiveness. The importance of this topic stems from the growing climate challenges facing Algeria, particularly in the areas of desertification, degradation of natural resources, and rising temperatures. The article seeks to highlight national efforts in enacting environmental legislation, establishing specialized bodies, and implementing mechanisms such as environmental assessment and supporting renewable energy. It also highlights the obstacles preventing the achievement of stated goals, such as weak coordination, fragmented legal texts, and limited technical and human capabilities. The article focuses on the need to adopt a comprehensive and integrated approach to achieving the effectiveness of environmental policies in the context of sustainable development .
