This paper investigates how artificial intelligence (AI) tools are transforming teaching and learning, focusing on Coursera as a leading global Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform. Using a descriptive case study and secondary data from Coursera’s Global Skills Report (2024) and recent empirical studies, the analysis explores key AI applications such as intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive learning platforms, automated feedback, and natural language processing. Findings show that Coursera’s AI-driven features—such as Coursera Coach and AI-assisted course design—enhance teaching effectiveness by reducing instructors’ administrative burdens and enabling more personalized, data-driven learning pathways. Evidence from large-scale studies demonstrates that AI-based tutoring and automated feedback improve student engagement, retention, and performance. The study highlights both the pedagogical and strategic benefits of AI adoption for digital education providers while underlining the importance of addressing ethical issues, including data privacy and algorithmic bias, to ensure responsible and equitable implementation.
