From the scorched ruins of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to the radioactive silence of the secretive tests of the blue jerboa, this article explores how nuclear catastrophes became a turning point in the evolution of global legal environmental awareness. These disasters transcended national borders, revealing the inadequacy of existing legal frameworks and igniting an urgent call for international environmental responsibility. The study traces how legal thought responded to radioactive threats, prompting new treaties, principles, and norms that elevated environmental protection from a peripheral issue to a core concern of international law. The article". concludes with forward-looking recommendations to strengthen global legal safeguards against future nuclear risks.
