Trends Of The Algerian National Archives Towards The Digital Environment

Abstract
The national archives are undergoing significant digital transformations that enhance various archival processes including processing, organizing, managing, preserving, and making archives accessible. Digital technologies play a pivotal role as tools and mechanisms to avail and valorize archival holdings at national archive centers. Through these technologies, institutions are able to engage with users and provide a range of digital services. This study aims to delineate the main trends at the Algerian National Archive Center towards the digital milieu, by delineating the advancements in digitizing its holdings. It also aims to review the salient digital technologies employed by the Algerian National Archives, and proposes a suite of applications and technologies that the center might adopt to augment and refine its digital services.
