لذا حاولنا من خلال هذه الورقة البحثية تسليط الضوء على تأثير نقط الماء في العمليات العسكرية بالأندلس خلال فترة الفتح وعهد بني أمية (92-422ه/711-1031م)، والبحث في أشكال استخدام نقط الماء في المخططات الحربية لقادة الجيوش في الأندلس، وقد توصلنا إلى مدى إدراك قادة الجيوش الأندلسية لأهمية نقط الماء في المجال الحربي وذلك بالاستغلال الأمثل لها لإنجاح العمليات العسكرية وتحقيق النصر./ Water points constituted sites of strategic significance for the army during military confrontations, which required a military commander, when drawing up a plan for moving his forces, to take precise identification of water points into account. Many historical testimonies in Andalusian primary texts point to this: exploiting the water points surrounding a landing and encampment site, in addition to making use of other advantages the location offered—such as mountains, aqueducts, springs, and wells—was important for advancing an attack and thereby securing victory, for setting ambushes and avoiding them, and even for retreat and withdrawal operations. Accordingly, during the period under study in al-Andalus we find that water points formed excellent sites for landing armies, for using natural fortification, and as tools of pressure, siege, and denial of water. Therefore, in this research paper we sought to shed light on the influence of water points on military operations in al-Andalus during the period of the conquest and the Umayyad era (92–422 AH / 711–1031 CE), and to examine the ways commanders used water points in their war plans. We found that Andalusian military leaders were well aware of the importance of water points in warfare and made optimal use of them to ensure the success of military operations and achieve victory.
