This study examines the impact of digitalization on Palestinian national identity, exploring its potential as a tool for digital resistance versus its role in fostering digital dispersion. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the research analyzes 600 social media posts from X, Instagram, and Facebook between October 2023 and April 2025, employing thematic analysis, t-tests, ANOVA, and network analysis to assess narrative types (resistance, humanitarian, evocative), engagement metrics (likes, shares, comments), and their temporal dynamics. Findings reveal that digital platforms enhance Palestinian identity through global dissemination of narratives, with X promoting resistance (#AlAqsaFlood) and Instagram/Facebook amplifying humanitarian narratives (#GazaUnderFire). However, algorithmic censorship and narrative diversity—reflecting differing priorities between Palestinians in the occupied territories (resistance-focused) and the diaspora (humanitarian-focused)—fragment national cohesion. Political divisions, geographic diversity, and technological restrictions further exacerbate dispersion. The study rejects hypotheses suggesting digitalization’s ineffectiveness, confirming its dual role in unifying efforts and amplifying divisions. Recommendations include unified digital strategies, platform-specific targeting (X for resistance, Instagram/Facebook for global support), countering censorship, and enhancing activist training and data collection to strengthen national identity and resistance.
