Abstract: Emotions are a set of psychological responses and bodily reactions manifested through physiological expressions. They represent an internal phenomenon triggered by external stimuli and are regarded as non-cognitive mental processes, contingent upon the integration of various explanatory and causal dimensions. These include biological and physiological interpretations, viewing emotions as both an inevitable product of evolutionary processes and as outcomes of electrochemical stimulations within the nervous system. In the Qur’an, God Almighty recounts numerous events and narratives that depict the experiences and encounters of the prophets—peace be upon them—illustrating how they interacted with different circumstances. These experiences were reflected in their behaviors, expressions, and facial features, thereby revealing their engagement with a range of innate human emotions such as fear, sadness, anger, despair, sternness, joy, and regret. All such emotional responses vividly express the lived psychological states across various situations, positioning the Qur’an as a primary and foundational reference for exploring emotions through the model of the most exemplary human figures: the prophets. The present study aims to analyze the Qur’anic discourse in order to investigate how the prophets experienced the emotion of fear, and how the Qur’an narrates these experiences in light of differing contexts and objectives, consistent with the specific situations they faced. This analysis further considers human variability and differences in personality types among the prophets. Moreover, the study examines the particularity of anger in prophetic experiences, addressing its causes and consequences.
