Abstract expression due to their importance, eloquence, and aesthetic value. It is rare to find a poet who does not employ this stylistic device in their poetry, whether frequently or occasionally. Among the poets who made abundant use of this technique is the Arab poet Abu al-Fath al-Busti. A close examination of his poetry reveals this clearly to anyone possessing linguistic and rhetorical sensitivity. For this reason, the topic was chosen for study, focusing specifically on his most famous poem, “ʿUnwān al-Ḥikam” (The Title of Wisdom). The purpose of this limitation was to analyze the poem in order to uncover the rhetorical purposes behind the use of preposing and postposing within it. The central research problem was: How can the rhetorical purposes of preposing and postposing in “ʿUnwān al-Ḥikam” be identified and analyzed? After careful study, several purposes were identified, the most prominent of which are emphasis, restriction (exclusivity), and strengthening (reinforcement).
