The Hidden Engineering Of Public Opinion: Ai-driven Political Personalization In Algeria’s 2024 Presidential Election

Authors : Rahhmouni Loubna .

Abstract

This study examines the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in personalizing political content during Algeria’s 2024 presidential election. Through critical discourse analysis of 180 digital political messages, the research reveals how AI-driven strategies tailored content to regional identities, emotions, and social divisions to influence voter behavior. The findings show that such personalization fragmented public discourse, increased polarization, and exploited historical and crisis narratives for electoral gains. These practices pose serious ethical concerns regarding transparency, manipulation, and the weakening of democratic processes. In Algeria’s fragile political landscape, AI-driven political personalization threatens national cohesion and electoral integrity. The study calls for stronger regulations, enhanced digital literacy, and ethical standards to protect democratic participation from algorithmic control.
