This article aims to examine the dialectic of space between the Self and the Other in Suheil Idriss’s novel The Latin Quarter, through a critical approach grounded in the achievements of contemporary narratology and anthropology. The study reveals that narrative space is not confined to being a mere geographical frame for events, but rather becomes an active semantic element that exposes identity conflicts and establishes a cultural dialogue between the Arab self and the Western milieu. Drawing on a range of theoretical references, the analysis demonstrates that the Latin Quarter in the novel functions as a symbolic space in which openness and estrangement intersect. Furthermore, it operates as a textual map that reflects the dialectical relationship between the referential and the fictional, between the Self and the Other.
