This study examines an important aspect of the history of the Chelif Basin in the Central Maghreb during the medieval period, focusing on the economic dimension. The region is characterized by geographical features such as fertile soil and abundant water resources, which were praised by geographical sources. These attributes made it a center of attraction and contributed to the prosperity of the states that ruled the Central Maghreb, starting with the Rustamid dynasty, whose economic growth benefited from the Chelif Basin. Accordingly, this study aims to analyze and investigate the economic life of the Chelif region based on geographical sources that documented it, such as Al-Bakri, Ibn Hawqal, and others. It also highlights the main agricultural products the region was known for and examines how these factors influenced the development of the states that emerged in the Central Maghreb
