This study aims to analyze the role of Watan News Agency in shaping public perception during political and military conflicts, through a comparative examination of its media coverage during two distinct periods: the ceasefire and the resumption of Israeli aggression following October 7, 2023. The research focuses on examining the evolution of the agency’s media discourse and framing strategies, alongside the contribution of digital public relations in bolstering the Palestinian narrative and countering the Israeli discourse at the international level. The study is grounded in media framing theory to understand how media messages direct and construct public perceptions, and it incorporates concepts of political propaganda—particularly within the framework of propaganda techniques—to elucidate the mechanisms of influence and persuasion employed during escalated conflict periods. A descriptive-analytical methodology that combines both quantitative and qualitative analysis was employed, involving an in-depth content analysis of the digital posts published by Watan as well as an examination of audience engagement through associated hashtags. The findings reveal a significant shift in the agency’s media discourse: following the resumption of aggression, the usage of terms such as “genocide” and “crimes against humanity” increased by approximately 40%, in contrast to the more diplomatic and human rights-oriented rhetoric observed during the ceasefire. Furthermore, the study highlights the pivotal role of digital public relations in managing online campaigns and amplifying the reach of Palestinian content globally, thereby enhancing international engagement and counteracting attempts to distort the Palestinian narrative. Based on these findings, the study recommends the adoption of more dynamic media strategies that integrate framing, political propaganda, and digital public relations to better respond to political and military shifts and to extend the global influence of Palestinian media.
