Cursive Handwriting In Algerian Schools In The Digital Era

Authors : Seddari Bounouar .

Abstract

This study examines the difficulties encountered by Algerian primary school students in the acquisition of cursive handwriting within the context of the digital age. While handwriting remains a fundamental skill in early education, it has been increasingly marginalized due to the predominance of digital technologies and shifting teaching priorities. This research explores didactic, cognitive, and environmental factors that influence handwriting performance, with a particular focus on 4th year pupils. The methodology combined questionnaires administered to French language teachers, classroom observations, and analysis of students’ written productions.
