This study explores the privacy challenges of digital currencies and their impact on cybersecurity, with a focus on legal and regulatory recognition in Western countries. The rapid expansion of cryptocurrencies has raised concerns about user anonymity, transaction traceability, and the misuse of digital assets in cybercrime. The research adopts a comparative analytical approach, examining legal and regulatory frameworks alongside selected case studies. Its main objectives are to assess how privacy-enhancing features complicate cybersecurity measures, evaluate the effectiveness of current regulations, and explore the balance between privacy rights and security requirements. Findings indicate significant regulatory gaps, with inconsistencies across national frameworks creating vulnerabilities in financial governance and cyber defense. While privacy protections are vital to safeguard users, they often hinder the detection of illicit activities. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for coordinated international regulation to ensure secure digital financial flows while protecting individual rights.
