Abstract The right to privacy is a fundamental pillar of human rights, intrinsically linked to safeguarding human dignity and ensuring an individual’s freedom to manage their affairs without unlawful interference. This right has gained heightened importance in the era of rapid technological transformations and the widespread use of modern communication tools, which pose significant risks to personal data and information security. In the Algerian context, the right to privacy is protected through a multi-layered legal framework. It starts with constitutional provisions that guarantee the inviolability of private life, the secrecy of communications, and the sanctity of the home. It extends to criminal and civil laws that criminalize violations of this right, and culminates in specific legislation such as Law No. 18-07 on the Protection of Personal Data, which represents a qualitative leap in digital protection. This study analyzes the legal framework of the right to privacy in Algeria through three main axes: the conceptual framework, the general legislative framework, and the specific framework embodied in Law 18-07. The findings reveal that the Algerian legislator has drawn inspiration from several international standards, particularly European ones. Keywords: Right to privacy, Algerian law, Data protection, Digital privacy, Law 18-07.
