The Impact Of Information And Communication Technology On Financial Development (using Panel Data)

Abstract
Abstract: This study aims to analyze the impact of information and communication technology (ICT) on financial development in six developed countries during the period (1996-2023) using panel data. After estimating the model, selecting the optimal model (random effects model), and addressing the autoregressive and heteroscedasticity issues, the results revealed a positive impact of ICT .The results also revealed a positive impact of research and development , and a strong positive impact on GDP per capita. These results support the main hypothesis of the study, highlighting the pivotal role of ICT in driving financial development by improving efficiency, reducing costs, providing liquidity, increasing transaction transparency, enhancing financial inclusion, and enabling financial innovation.
