Total Factor Productivity In Brics+ Economies: A Panel Data Analysis

Authors : Mendil Djamila . Kaci Said .

Abstract

This study investigates the key macro-structural drivers of Total Factor Productivity (TFP) in BRICS+ economies from 1990 to 2023 using a dynamic panel GMM approach. Results reveal that trade openness, FDI, and R&D expenditures significantly enhance TFP, while political stability exerts a negative influence. Human capital, innovation, and corruption control show no statistically significant effect, with trade openness identified as the dominant determinant.
