Abstract : Chronic diseases are a new age in all countries and are one of the biggest health challenges facing especially low-and middle-income countries, as they pose a great burden on individuals and communities and directly affect the quality of life and the ability of individuals to participate in social and economic activities . According to the World Health Organization, chronic diseases are the leading cause of death in the world, claiming the lives of about 41 million people, corresponding to 74% of all deaths worldwide . Algeria is also considered like other countries that suffer from these diseases, as they affect all age groups of society, but in varying proportions .many studies confirm that age is one of the factors that lead to the incidence of chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease increase with age, especially in the third age group, which includes the elderly, in addition to several other factors. through this modest study, we took a look at the most important demographic and social determinants of chronic diseases in the third age group in Algeria through the analysis of the mics6 database. This study has reached the following results: the older the age, the higher the risk of developing a chronic disease, in addition to the fact that chronic diseases are distributed differently between age groups, they are also distributed differently in terms .of gender, so that females remain more at risk of developing these chronic diseases than males
