Abstract: Illegal immigration is a pressing global concern impacting destination countries' security and fostering crimes like smuggling and terrorism. Despite international efforts, it persists due to dire economic and security conditions in source countries, demanding a policy reassessment focused on root causes. This study evaluates the effectiveness of Algeria's criminal and security policy against illegal immigration and its adequacy. It's structured in two sections. The first section explores the legal framework and preventive measures. The second analyzes the legal mechanisms to combat this crime. The study uses descriptive methods to detail the issue and its controls, combined with analytical methods to examine Algerian laws criminalizing illegal immigration and their punishments.
