Abstract This article provides an update on the current knowledge regarding natriuretic peptides, particularly BNP and NT-proBNP, which have become essential biomarkers in the management of heart failure. Since their discovery, these markers have established themselves as indispensable non-invasive tools for monitoring this condition. We discuss their structural, metabolic, and analytical aspects, along with clinical recommendations for their use. Understanding the factors that influence their levels is fundamental for accurate interpretation in daily practice. This review aims to provide biologists and clinicians with the necessary information to optimize the use of these biomarkers in the monitoring of heart failure patients. Résumé
