La Poétique Du Labyrinthe Dans Titanics Africains D’ʾabū Bakr Hāmid Kahhāl

Auteurs : Rihan Miroud Amani .

Abstract: This contribution explores the labyrinth as both an internal and external motif in the novel African Titanics (Tītānīkāt Ifrīqiyya) by Eritrean writer ʾAbū Bakr Hāmid Kahhāl. The novel follows migrants embarking on an absurd quest for a more dignified life, drifting endlessly through labyrinthine spaces and times that are deeply hostile to human existence. The metaphor of the labyrinth shapes not only the content and structure of the narrative but also the reader’s experiences, drawing them into a complex hermeneutic universe. Kahhāl does more than recount a contemporary tragedy — he crafts a story with universal resonance, where different kinds of labyrinths intertwine: existential, narrative, and hermeneutic.
