Evaluation Of Shareholder Protection In Algeria Based On The "anti-director Rights" Index

Abstract
Using both descriptive and comparative approaches, this study paper seeks to evaluate the protection of equity holders' rights in Algeria based on the "Anti-director Rights" index created by La Porta and his colleagues (LLSV) - Rafael La Porta, Florencio López-de Silanes, Andrei Shleifer, and Robert Vishny. The paper concludes that Algeria has made some progress in shareholder protection according to the "Anti-director Rights" index. However, the quality of enforcing laws that protect shareholder rights in Algeria still faces significant challenges. Improving these laws and their enforcement requires continuous efforts from the government, the private sector, and international institutions to promote transparency and fairness in the financial market.
