Carbon emissions, as a key factor in climate change, are influenced by various economic determinants, including energy consumption, commercial opening and economic growth. This study applies the ArdL model to analyze the dynamic relationships between these variables in the United States, by differentiating short and long-term effects. The results show that energy consumption is the main engine of CO₂ emissions, while commercial opening contributes to their reduction thanks to the dissemination of clean technologies. On the other hand, economic growth and industrialization have no significant impact on emissions, suggesting compensatory mechanisms such as energy efficiency gains. These conclusions provide recommendations for public policies to balance economic growth and energy transition.
