Authors : Chebab Sihem . Beldjilali Ahmed .

Abstract

Amid escalating global challenges, such as climate change, geopolitical tensions, and increasing reliance on food imports, food security emerges as a critical issue for achieving stability and sustainable development. This study aims to analyze the state of sustainable food security in Algeria during the period 1990–2023 using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model. The findings reveal that agricultural GDP, governmental support, and agricultural exports positively contribute to improving food security, whereas climate change, food imports, and global food prices negatively impact it. Accordingly, the study recommends enhancing domestic production, optimizing resource management, and adopting adaptive policies to ensure food security in the face of ongoing challenges.
