Abstract

This article examines the sociological impact of the Nakba on Palestinian families, including displacement, massacres, and the fragmentation of Palestinian society. It also examines its profound impact on Palestinian identity, the self, family structure, and the role of women in preserving Palestinian heritage in its broadest sense. It highlights the Nakba as a settler-colonial catastrophe that resulted in ethnic cleansing and systematic attempts to erase Palestinian national existence. It also examines the ongoing struggle for the right of return, historically comparing it to Algeria's resistance to colonialism. It also explores the role of political movements, such as Fatah, in shaping Palestinian identity and countering Zionist narratives that deny Palestinian historical continuity. The article delves into the geopolitical background of the Balfour Declaration, analyzing its political and colonial objectives. By integrating historical, political, and social analysis, this research offers a critical perspective on the Palestinian-Zionist conflict, affirming the legal and historical right of return as a fundamental principle for peace and justice.
