This paper explores modern practices in Human Resource Management (HRM) with a focus on three main areas: talent acquisition and retention, performance appraisal systems, and HRM’s role in organizational development. In today’s globalized and competitive environment, organizations must adopt strategic approaches to recruit and retain skilled employees. Modern talent acquisition goes beyond filling vacancies; it includes employer branding, digital tools like artificial intelligence (AI), and social media platforms such as LinkedIn. These tools help organizations attract a diverse and qualified workforce. However, hiring is only part of the challenge. Retention is equally important and depends on creating an inclusive work culture, offering career development opportunities, competitive pay, and flexible work models such as hybrid arrangements. Understanding generational expectations, particularly those of Millennials and Generation Z, also plays a crucial role in maintaining workforce stability. The paper also examines new trends in performance appraisal systems. Traditional annual reviews are being replaced by continuous performance management methods that focus on real-time feedback and agility. Systems like 360-degree feedback and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) link employee performance to strategic goals. Technology plays a significant role by offering data-driven tools that help evaluate performance fairly and consistently. Employee participation in goal-setting and feedback discussions increases motivation and commitment, enhancing overall effectiveness. Finally, the study highlights how HRM contributes to broader organizational development. HR departments align workforce planning with strategic goals, support learning and innovation, and manage change processes such as digital transformation and organizational restructuring. HRM also promotes employee engagement and diversity, while HR analytics provide insights that guide strategic decisions. Additionally, HR professionals serve as ethical stewards by implementing policies that encourage fairness and compliance. Overall, the paper argues that HRM has evolved from a support function to a strategic partner that drives long-term organizational success. This review provides practical insights for academics, HR professionals, and business leaders who seek to understand the evolving role of HRM in modern organizations.
