This study explores the impact of social media ideals on psychological distress by examining the widening gap between the Real Self and the Ideal Self. It highlights how social media's portrayal of idealized lifestyles contributes to increased anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. Utilizing a humanistic approach, the research applies concepts from Carl Rogers and Maslow to suggest therapeutic interventions, self-reflection exercises, and community programs aimed at reconciling the Real Self with the Ideal Self. The study emphasizes the importance of self-acceptance and resilience in a social media-dominated world and calls for strategies that promote authentic self-expression.
