The Issues And Challenges Of Food Security In Algeria

Abstract
Food security has become a major strategic issue for all countries today. In this regard, increasing efforts are made to ensure not only stable access to sufficient food, responding to the constant growing population, but also to address other challenges, such as climate change, geopolitical tensions, and market volatility. Countries that rely on imports to cover their deficit in staple products, such as Algeria, are vulnerable to external shocks. Therefore, strengthening the local agricultural sector, managing water resources, reducing dependence on international markets, and adapting to climate change must be at the core of any strategy aimed at enhancing the country’s food security
